I have experience tutoring students ranging from elementary school to college, which has equipped me with the skills and confidence to assist learners of all ages.
Standardized Tests
I prepare students for the
- ACT
- SAT
- CPS Selective Enrollment exam
- HSPT for entrance into Catholic High Schools
- ISEE
- MAP tests
- Academic Center Admissions test
I assess what each child needs to work on to succeed on each test and make sure they understand all relevant concepts. I also utilize numerous practice exams along the way both to reinforce concepts through repetition and to make sure the student is comfortable with the test’s format when it is time for the actual exam. If your child plans to take an exam not listed above, please let me know and I’ll most likely be able to help.
Mathematics
Some children have me help them with their math homework and/or to get ready for an upcoming exam in school. I am proficient in all areas of math that are being taught through high school, including algebra, geometry, graphing, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus and more.
Writing
Schools today do not stress writing as much as they used to. Grammar is rarely, if ever, taught in any significant fashion. I have written articles for some major publications and, for better or worse, seem to catch every typo printed on menus and storefront signs. I help kids learn proper grammar, develop their own writing style and strengthen sentence structure. Writing skills are important in many jobs today and, of course, they will be needed for those all-important college application essays.
